Description: Surface Water in Broward County. All of Broward County's surface waters were digitized using the 1998 and 1999 photography. Areas of new development were updated using the 2000 and 2001 photography. Areas of southwest Broward County were updated using the 2002 photography. All areas of Broward County were updated using the 2006 digital ortho-photos. Deerfield Beach was updated in 2010 using 2010 digital ortho-photos. In 2015, surface water in the northern wedge area of the County was digitized using 2015 aerial photography.Missing surface area water bodies were digitized and other water bodies were updated to reflect current aerial renderings. All surface water was digitized at a scale ranging from 1:600 to 1:1200. All water bodies greater than 10 feet in diameter and canals greater than 10 feet in width were digitized. The spatial accuracy of the data is limited by the spatial accuracy (+/- 7 feet) and shadowing of the photography, and by the visibility of surface water on the photography. The 1998 and 1999 photography was black and white with one foot pixel size. The 2000, 2001, and 2002 photography was color with one foot pixel size. The 2006 and 2010 photography was color with one foot pixel size. 2015 aerials were used to add the wedge area in northwest Broward, and to update the feature class in September 2015.

This dataset should not be used to derive statistics for total lengths (such as mileage) in Broward County. The initial streets dataset geometry was created by using a variety of sources: digitized section sheets and plats, air photography, Tiger files, field checks and sketch maps - among others. Efforts are being made to improve positional accuracy and the correctness of address attributes. This update includes all annexations as of the effective date.
